The Israeli Central Bureau of Statistics is the official governmental source of data on Israel, providing essential information for decision-making across government, businesses, academia, and the public. This project focuses on redesigning the CBS website to create a modern, accessible, and intuitive experience. The new design features a responsive interface, improved navigation, highlighted essential tools, and enhanced accessibility in three languages. The goal is to make statistical data easily available and user-friendly, improving the experience for the hundreds of thousands of visitors who rely on the site monthly.
The main challenge in redesigning the CBS Israel website lies in transforming a complex, data-heavy website into a user-friendly and visually engaging experience. Balancing vast amounts of statistical information with intuitive navigation requires a clear hierarchy, streamlined search, and effective data visualization. Ensuring accessibility across devices, languages, and user types—ranging from policymakers to the general public—adds another layer of complexity. Additionally, integrating advanced tools into a cohesive, modern interface demands a careful blend of functionality and simplicity, making critical data easily discoverable and actionable.
To tackle the challenges of redesigning the CBS Israel website, we focused on creating a structured, intuitive, and highly accessible user experience. We streamlined navigation by organizing vast statistical data into a clear, logical hierarchy, allowing users to find information without relying solely on search. A modern, responsive design ensures seamless accessibility across devices, while an improved UI highlights essential tools. We introduced data visualization techniques to make complex statistics more digestible, enhancing user engagement with interactive charts and tailored content displays. Accessibility was a top priority, with full compliance to multi-language support (Hebrew, Arabic, English) and government accessibility standards. By integrating a modular design system, we ensured scalability and adaptability for future growth, allowing CBS to maintain a consistent yet flexible experience that serves both policymakers and the general public effectively.
